To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what assessment he has made of the number of civil servants in his Department who could be relocated to provincial centres as part of the policy of devolving and decentralising Government Departments.

Following the review in 1991 the then Economic Secretary announced on 18 December that about 200 posts in CCTA—the Government centre for information systems—would be relocated to Norwich over the next three years.
