HC Deb 13 July 1992 vol 211 cc410-1W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport which non-departmental public bodies are sponsored by his Department; which of these are audited by the National Audit Office; which firms of private accountants audits each of the others; by what method of tendering contracts to such firms are awarded; and for what duration.

Mr. Kenneth Carlisle

[holding answer 10 July 1992]: Bodies for which my right hon. Friend is responsible, and their audit arrangements are listed in "Public Bodies 1991", a copy of which is in the Library of the House. Since the entries were prepared, the only executive body then not subject to audit by the National Audit Office, the Red Sea Lights Company, has been dissolved and a new non-departmental public body, the Traffic Director for London. has been established. The latter will be audited by private accountants to be appointed by competitive tender. The initial appointment will be for two years.
