HL Deb 13 July 1992 vol 539 c2WA
Baroness Jeger

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many nurses are awaiting the hearing of appeals on regrading; and what compensation will be paid if their appeals result in upgrading.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health (Baroness Cumberlege)

At 30th June 1992 there were 21,679 appeals outstanding at regional level (including those for Scotland and Wales) and 1,940 at national level. The department does not collect information on appeals at employing authority level. A nurse who is regraded following a successful appeal will receive all arrears of pay due.
