HC Deb 13 July 1992 vol 211 c505W
Mr. Colvin

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what is his latest estimate of the cost of abandonment of oil and gas production related structures in the British sector of the North sea.

Mr. Eggar

The cost of abandonment of oil and gas production installations, currently producing or under development in the United Kingdom continental shelf, is estimated to be in the region of £6 billion in 1992 money. The expenditure will take place over a long period, extending well into the next century.
