HC Deb 13 July 1992 vol 211 c400W
Mr. Burns

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what percentage of household waste has been recycled by Chelmsford borough council in each of the last three available years.

Mr. Maclean

Information on the recycling activities of individual local authorities is not held centrally at present. Recycling plans are now being prepared by every waste collection authority in the country as a result of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. The plans are due to be submitted in draft to the Secretary of State by 1 August. they will contain information on the quantities of waste which the council expects to deal with by separating, baling or otherwise packaging it for the purpose of recycling it. The plan for Chelmsford has not yet been received.
