HC Deb 13 July 1992 vol 211 c517W
Mr. Home Robertson

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will set out the fishery protection services currently provided by Royal Navy vessels in the waters around Scotland and the financial arrangements in force.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

The Royal Navy provides one vessel from the fishery protection squadron for patrols in Scottish waters. The Royal Navy ship, together with the vessels of the Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency, is responsible for monitoring compliance with UK and EC fishing regulations in Scottish waters. This task is carried out on behalf of the Scottish Fishery Protection Agency from which payment of approximately £1.3 million is received annually.
