HC Deb 13 July 1992 vol 211 c414W
Mr. Whittingdale

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the ratio between receipts from and contributions to the European Community budget for each of the member states in the current year.

Sir John Cope

The ratio for the United Kingdom in 1992 is forecast to be 1:1.9—taking account only of receipts coming to the public sector. As no details of individual member states' receipts in the current year are available, it is not possible to calculate the ratio for other member states.

Mr. Whittingdale

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the United Kingdom's net contribution to the EC budget this year and what it was in each of the last 10 years; and what it would have been if the Fontainebleau rebate mechanism had not been in operation.

Sir John Cope
