HL Deb 13 July 1992 vol 539 c3WA
Lord Harris of Greenwich

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the Home Office and the Department of Health will conduct an inquiry into the circumstances in which a drug courier who had swallowed bags of herion was discharged from the North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary, Stoke-on-Trent, before the Staffordshire police were informed.

Baroness Cumberlege

The chief executive of North Staffordshire Health Authority will be meeting the chief officer of Staffordshire police shortly to discuss this issue. A meeting between officials at the Home Office and the Department of Health is also being arranged to consider the broader implications.
