§ Mr. Blunkett
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much was spent on consultancy and outside research capacity in his Department for the last year for which figures are available.

§ Mr. Nelson
My Department spent some £2.69 million on consultancy and outside research in 1991–92. This figure includes the costs of consultants working for CCTA—the Government centre for information systems—economic research and other consultancies.
