To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on the manner in which inspectors are appointed to investigate businesses under the Financial Services Act 1986.

Persons may be appointed by the Securities and Investments Board under sections 94 and 106, and by the Secretary of State for Trade under sections 94, 106 and 177 of the Act.
