HC Deb 10 July 1992 vol 211 cc360-1W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales which non-departmental public bodies are sponsored by his Department; which of these are audited by the National Audit Office; which firms of private accountants audits each of the others; by what method of tendering contracts to such firms are awarded; and for what duration.

Mr. David Hunt

The non-departmental public bodies sponsored by the Welsh Office are set out in "Public Bodies 1991", a copy of which is in the Library of the House.

The Comptroller and Auditor General audits the accounts of all but two of the executive non-departmental public bodies on that list.

The Cardiff Bay development corporation's accounts are audited by Ernst and Young whose appointment is for up to five years. Housing for Wales auditors are KPMG Peat Marwick whose appointment is for up to three years. Both appointments followed open competition.
