§ Mr. RedmondTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation so that charges of(a) indecent assault. (b) assault occasioning actual bodily harm and (c) procurement of sex with a woman by false pretences, may be brought against a person who is an HIV/AIDS carrier who wilfully infects others; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. JackWe have no current plans to introduce such legislation. There are difficulties both of principle and of practice in bringing this type of behaviour within the scope278W of the criminal law. The issue is, however, being kept under review and we will he taking into account the precedents in other countries before reaching a final view.
