Mr. Cousins

To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will list the non-executive directors appointed to the board of the Post Office; on what basis they were selected; and for what levels of remuneration they are eligible.

The non-executive members of the Post Office Board are as follows:

  • Mrs. H. M. Cropper
  • Mr. D. Gladwin CBE JP
  • Dr. D. Grieves CBE
  • Mr. D. Hodson

These members were appointed by the Secretary of State for the wide range of skills and experience in industry, and for the independent judgment they bring to the board. Remuneration of directors of the Post Office is determined by the Secretary of State, with the approval of the Treasury, on an individual basis. The levels of remuneration paid are within the ranges shown in the Post Office report and accounts for 1991–92.
