Which local authorities had children's homes with secure places in January 1980, what were the numbers of such places, and what are the comparable figures for January 1992.

In January 1980 there were 353 secure places (excluding single separation rooms) in local authority children's homes in England and Wales. Information on the local authorities providing those places is not available. In January 1992, there were 288 secure places in local authority children's homes in England and Wales. These were provided by the authorities shown in the table.
