§ Mr. KilfedderTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will set up a committee containing representatives of the police throughout the United Kingdom to consider the provision of a national memorial to all police officers who have been killed in the line of police duty in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Peter LloydMy right hon. Friend has no plans to do so. The Police Memorial Trust already has approved to erect a memorial to police officers killed on duty in the United Kingdom. The site is at Cambridge green, between Horseguards Parade road and the Mall. Construction work on the memorial, the design for which has been approved by the Royal Fine Arts Commission, is expected to begin later this year.
