§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonThe Government pay police grant of 51 per cent. on all approved net expenditure for the police including provision for ports policing. Exceptionally 100 per cent. funding is provided to Dumfries and Galloway constabulary for the costs of those officers who are engaged entirely on prevention of terrorism duties at the ports of Stranraer and Cairnryan.448W This arrangement is in recognition of the exceptional demands which policing of these ports makes on the resources of this small force.
