To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will launch an independent investigation into corporate governance in Britain.

No. An independent investigation is being carried out by the Cadbury committee on the financial aspects of corporate governance. I welcome the 431W interests of this committee and other bodies in various aspects of corporate governance as this ensures a well-informed and lively public debate.
