§ Mr. MorganTo ask the Secretary of State for Energy what studies have been carried out of the consequences for the safe earthing of electric cookers and other appliances arising from the changeover from the supply of domestic water via lead piping to plastic.
§ Mr. Heathcoat-AmoryI understand that, as part of the national water metering trials, the Department of the Environment commissioned a study to investigate the change in the earthing characteristics of domestic properties when work is carried out on the water supply pipe in order to install an external water meter.
