§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonThe presence of limestone pavement is one of several features which in each case have led to the notification of seven separate sites of special scientific interest under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. No orders have been made for any of these sites but it is open to the Nature Conservancy Council for Scotland or the Countryside Commission for Scotland to seek such further protection should the need arise.
