To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement concerning a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Defence and representatives of the fishing industry held on 9 December 1991.

§ Mr. Archie Hamilton
This was the first meeting of a sub-group of the fishing industry safety group, set up to consider submarine operations and fishing vessel safety. The meeting was chaired by the Department of Transport and attended by representatives of the fishermen's organisations, of the Ministry of Defence and of the fisheries departments. There was a useful exchange of views and a further meeting is planned.
