§ Mr. Ron DaviesTo ask the Lord President of the Council if he will ensure that all veal supplied to the House of Commons Refreshment Department is produced in Great Britain.
§ Mr. MacGregorThe Refreshment Department is aware of the Minister of Agriculture's dissatisfaction with the minimum standards set by the recently agreed Community directive on the rearing of veal calves and of his intention to maintain the British legislation which ensures that calves in this country are reared humanely. In the light of that position, the Refreshment Department will seek to purchase only British veal or veal from other countries where production methods are known to meet the required standards.
