To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many home owners in Scotland have suffered repossession of their homes due to mortgage arrears in each year since 1979 until the latest year for which figures are available.

The Council of Mortgage Lenders publishes statistics in its regular newsletters on various aspects of mortgage lending by building societies but this is on a Great Britain basis and no corresponding information is available for Scotland only. No information about other mortgage lenders is held centrally.
