§ Mr. ChopeThe Department collects information only on accidents involving personal injury. In 1990, the last year for which information is available, there were 15,063 injury accidents involving at least one heavy goods vehicle, of which 791 were fatal accidents and 3,387 were serious accidents. More detailed statistics on heavy goods vehicle involvement in road accidents are published in "Road Accidents Great Britain 1990", a copy of which is in the Library.
