§ Mr. John PattenThe most recent British crime survey was carried out in 1988, covering crime in 1987. Some types of crime are excluded from the survey, such as those where the victim is an organisation or institution, rather than an individual. For those types of crime where comparisons can be made between the survey findings and offences recorded by the police, the increase between 1981 and 1987 was as follows:
