HC Deb 21 February 1992 vol 204 c342W
Mr. Bill Walker

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what response he has given to schemes prepared by Scottish bus companies supported by regional councils following the publication of "Buses Mean Business"; and whether the Scottish schemes will be funded on a similar basis to English ones.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

I support the aims of the "Buses Mean business" campaign in Scotland. For this reason, regional and islands councils have been invited to treat bus priority measures as a special objective in their financial plans on which capital allocations are based. The arrangements for central Government support for local authority transport expenditure in Scotland are different from those in England.
