§ Mr. SteinbergTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will list the expenditure incurred on(a) the assisted places scheme and (b) city technology colleges in each year of the programmes so far, together with the proposed expenditure in future years.
§ Mr. EggarThe assisted places scheme was launched in 1981. The city technology colleges programme was launched in 1986. Actual Government expenditure to 1990–91 and estimated and planned expenditure for future years on the APS and the CTC programme are shown in the table. In addition, private sponsors have pledged well over £30 million to the CTC programme.
