§ Mr. Sheerman
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what progress has been made in the police inquiries into four break-ins into the headquarters of the Prison Officers Association;
(2) whether he will set up an inquiry into the recent burglaries of the headquarters of the Prison Officers Association.

§ Mr. Peter Lloyd
No. I will not set up an inquiry. The investigation of criminal offences is an operational matter for chief officers of police and it would not be appropriate for me to comment on this investigation while it was continuing.
