What was the total amount of guarantees (in money and securities) called in by the Intervention Board via approaches to banks in the calendar years 1990 and 1991, and what percentage of the total amount guaranteed this represented.

During the two years in question the value of guarantees surrendered to the Intervention Board by Banks were:

  • 1990: £295,195, which represented .05 per cent. of total average standing guarantees.
  • 1991: £389,423, which represented .06 per cent. of total average standing guarantees.
