21. Mr. McAllion

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the planning total in 1990–91 prices(a) in 1987–88 and (b) 1988–89; and what it is for the current year.

Mr. Mellor

The outturn for the planning total, in 1990–91 prices, was £176.6 billion and £168.2 billion in 1987–88 and 1988–89, respectively. Outturn in 1991–92 is forecast to be £191.6 billion, in 1990—91 prices.
