HC Deb 06 February 1992 vol 203 c253W
Sir Thomas Arnold

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what information he has about the extent of compliance by branch offices of the clearing banks with the codes of business practice concerning small businesses agreed by their head offices.

Mr. Maples

Officials are currently reviewing the codes and how they are being implemented. All the codes establish complaint procedures for customers who feel they have been treated badly, and so, in the first instance, it is for the customers to judge compliance with the codes and to use the banks' published complaints procedure, where necessary.
