§ Mr. Nicholas BennettThe Department is involved in a number of measures jointly with the Department of the Environment as part of national programmes; and I refer the hon. Gentleman to the document "This Common Inheritance—The First Year Report" published in September 1991. The combined effect of these measures is designed to minimise waste and encourage recycling. From the information in the reports to be published under the provisions of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 we will be able to assess the extent of any further action that we will need to take.
