HL Deb 06 February 1992 vol 535 c18WA
Lord Brougham and Vaux

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What works are taking place on Horse Guards Parade; and what plans they have for it, for Horse Guards Road, and for the surrounding area.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Defence (The Earl of Arran)

Horse Guards building is being refurbished and a temporary stable block, walkway, and compound have been erected on Horse Guards Parade. It is anticipated that these will be removed during April or May this year. The Household Division troops will continue to use Horse Guards Parade for ceremonial and guard mounting purposes and Headquarters London District will reoccupy Horse Guards Building on completion of the current works during 1994. Horse Guards Road is a public highway.
