To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list for England and Wales the number of species of(a) flora and (b) fauna that have become extinct since the introduction of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

It is probable that no species of flora and five species of fauna have become extinct in England and Wales since the introduction of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
