HC Deb 06 February 1992 vol 203 c281W
Mr. Steinberg

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many computerised tomography scanners and magnetic resonance machines are at present available to the national health service that were bought from(a) national health service funds and (b) charitable appeals.

Mr. Dorrell

There are 250 computerised tomography scanners and 30 magnetic resonance machines in use on national health service sites in the United Kingdom. Available information suggests that private donations or appeals helped towards the funding of purchase in approximately half these cases.
