HC Deb 06 February 1992 vol 203 c252W
Mr. Graham

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is his policy on letting further contracts to companies which have been convicted of breaches of health and safety legislation committed in the course of fulfilling earlier contracts with his Department.

Mr. Kenneth Carlisle

A breach of health and safety legislation would not preclude a company from receiving contracts from the Ministry of Defence, provided remedial action was proposed, or had been undertaken, to the satisfaction of the appropriate enforcement authority and having regard to operational and other considerations.

Health and safety legislation is a matter for the Secretary of State for Employment.
