The Attorney-GeneralSubject to parliamentary approval of the necessary supplementary estimate, the cash limit for class X vote 9 will be increased by £743,000 from £11,865,000 to £12,608,000.
The additional provision is required to meet the cost of major accommodation works and the cost of the inquiry into the supervision of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International.
The increase will be charged to the reserve and will not therefore add to the planned total of public expenditure.
§ Mr. CarringtonTo ask the Attorney-General whether he proposes any changes to the Serious Fraud Office's cash and running costs limits for 1991–92.
The Attorney-GeneralSubject to parliamentary approval of the necessary supplementary estimate, the cash limit for class X vote 7 will be increased by £110,000 from £8,862,000 to £8,972,000. Within this total the Department's running costs limit will be increased by £110,000 from £8,132,000 to £8,242,000.
This increase will enable the Serious Fraud Office to meet additional administrative costs associated with the 249W investigation into the Maxwell group of companies and for further inquiries into the affairs of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International. The increase will be charged to the reserve and will not therefore add to the planned total of public expenditure.
§ Mr. CarringtonTo ask the Attorney-General whether he proposes any changes to the Crown Prosecution Service's cash and running costs limits for 1991–92.
The Attorney-GeneralSubject to parliamentary approval of the necessary supplementary estimate, the cash limit for class X, vote 5 will be increased by £300,000 from £157,433,000 to £157,733,000. Within this total the Department's running cost limit will be increased by £3,350,000 from £149,390,000 to £152,740,000.
Additional provision is required to enable the Crown Prosecution Service to meet the cost of implementation of the War Crimes Act 1991 and the costs of employing additional legal staff. Most of the increase in running costs expenditure has been offset by savings on capital expenditure.

§ Mr. CarringtonTo ask the Attorney-General whether any changes are proposed to the class X, vote 12 running costs limit for the Public Record Office.
The Attorney-GeneralSubject to parliamentary approval of the necessary token supplementary estimate, the running costs limit for class X, vote 12 will be increased by £201,000 from £19,292,000 to £19,493,000. This increase covers costs associated with agency launch and certain payments to Property Holdings, and will be contained within the overall cash limit as a result of increased appropriations in aid.
