§ Mr. John Patten[pursuant to his reply, 23 January, col. 314]: My Department has published today research and planning unit paper 65 "Offending while on bail: a survey of recent studies". A copy has been placed in the Library. The Government are considering, in the light of the survey, what further action is needed to reduce offending on bail, and we will make an announcement shortly.
