TaylorTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what submissions he has made to the European Commission concerning new European legislation on food supplements; what consultations he has had with representative organisations for nutritionists; and if he will make a statement on the main recommendations of the Denner report.
§ Mr. MacleanThe Department issued a statement on the recommendations in the Denner report on its publication on 27 March 1991. A copy was placed in the Library of the House. We subsequently consulted over 160 organisations on the report including those representing nutritionists. The European Commission have recently issued a discussion paper on dietary supplements which we have circulated to all those who commented on the Denner report. We will be making a submission to the Commission once views on the discussion paper have been received.
