§ Mr. FallonApproximately 124,000 teachers, representing one third of the teaching force in primary and secondary schools in England and Wales, are currently paid more than £20,280 per annum. Of these, some 28,000 are head teachers, 31,000 are deputy head teachers and 65,000 are classroom teachers who are paid on the standard scale and hold an incentive allowance.
