To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what is the policy of Employment Service agencies in respect of acting in competition with the private recruitment sector; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Jackson

The Government have long been a strong supporter of the private recruitment sector. This sector has a distinctive and important role to play, and there should not be any unfair competition from the public employment service.
