Mr. Hume

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list for each of the four campuses of the university of Ulster the current number of full-time equivalent students, the ratio of professorial staff to student numbers, the ratio of academic staff in post to student numbers and the ratio of non-academic staff in post to student numbers.

In the 1992–93 academic year the figures for the university of Ulster are as follows:

¹ Excludes Vice-Chancellor/Pro-Vice-Chancellor/Provosts.

² Excludes professorial and research staff.

³ Includes administration, technical and research staff and Vice-Chancellor/Pro-Vice-Chancellor/Provosts—four of whom are professorss based at Coleraine and Magee campuses.

Note: Comparison of staff:student ratios between the various campuses is not valid because of the unitary structures of the university and the differing subject mixes at each campus.
