HC Deb 17 December 1992 vol 216 c358W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the current situation in Uganda.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Since the present Government came to power in 1986, Uganda has taken commendable steps towards internal stability and economic rehabilitation after years of chaos. Progress with the economic recovery programme has been encouraging, but there are major structural weaknesses which still need to be overcome. We hope to see continued improvements including in the field of human rights, and a successful outcome to the constitutional reform process.
