To ask the President of the Board of Trade what preparations his Department is making for the nuclear non-proliferation treaty first preparatory committee meeting for the 1995 review.

§ Mr. Eggar
Within Whitehall, primary responsibility for the nuclear non-proliferation treaty lies with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. As such it will take the lead in preparations for the meeting of the first preparatory committee, which is to be held from 10 to 14 May next year. My Department works closely with the Foreign Office on this subject, and will support preparations for the meeting as appropriate.
