HC Deb 17 December 1992 vol 216 c437W
Ms. Eagle

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what plan he has to remove Crown immunity from national health service buildings with respect to fire safety legislation; and if he will make a statement;

(2) what research his Department has carried out into the cost of bringing national health service premises up to the standards required by fire safety legislation; and what cost was estimated.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

National health service premises are already subject to the provisions of the Fire Precautions Act 1971. The Crown immunity which they formerly had was removed on 1 April 1991 by section 60 of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990.
