HC Deb 17 December 1992 vol 216 c368W
Mr. Simon Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how much money has now been collected by the trust fund set up to reclaim the money lost from the Maxwell pensions scheme; and what action the Government have taken to ensure that all the lost money is collected.

Miss Widdecombe

The Maxwell Pensioners Trust was set up to seek contributions from the private sector to help secure Maxwell pensions in the longer term. So far, the trust has collected almost £6 million.

Responsibility for recovering the missing pension scheme assets lies with the liquidators, administrators and pension scheme trustees. The Department's Maxwell pensions unit is actively assisting in this work wherever possible.
