HC Deb 17 December 1992 vol 216 cc408-9W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is his estimate of the number of job search seminars held in 1991 and at the latest date in 1992; how many job clubs exist in Wales; and if he will make a statement concerning the future of job clubs and job search seminars.

Sir Wyn Roberts

Job search seminars began in August 1991 and during the period to March 1992 a total of 264 were held in Wales. Between April and November this year, there have been a further 376 seminars. Job search seminars have been successful and will continue next year.

There are currently 75 job clubs in the Principality. The provision of job clubs will expand next year as a result of the Chancellor's autumn statement. However, the number of additional job clubs has not yet been decided.
