HL Deb 17 December 1992 vol 541 c47WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

In what proportion of cases has the £80 fee for entry-clearance visas been waived by HM embassies and consulates since it was introduced, on grounds of hardship and lack of means.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

The number of settlement entry clearances issued gratis in 1991 was 1,655 out of a total of 35,888 settlement entry clearances granted. Statistics are not kept to show what proportion of this total was issued due to hardship and lack of means.
