§ Mr. Llew SmithTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what decisions have been taken since 1 July to increase economic aid and technical assistance to developing countries in(a) the European Development Council and (b) the Overseas Development Administration.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydAs announced in the autumn statement, the Government have made provision for our overseas aid programme to developing countries to increase to £1,900 million in 1993–94 and to be maintained at that level during 1994–95 and 1995–96. For 1993–94 this represents an increase of 3.5 per cent. in cash terms, 1 per cent. in real terms over the current year's figure. No decisions to increase economic aid or technical assistance were taken at the European Development Council.
