HC Deb 16 December 1992 vol 216 c295W
39. Mr. Charles Kennedy

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on progress towards the construction of the bridge to Skye.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

Severe weather conditions have caused some delay to the construction programme although in spite of this the contractor has made steady progress. Subject to a suitable weather and tidal window being available, it is now planned to float both caissons out from the Kishorn dry dock and attempt the positioning of the caisson for the north pier prior to the Christmas and new year holiday period.
