§ Mr. StewartA total of 920,144 patients were treated as in-patients in national health service hospitals in Scotland in the year ending 31 March 1992 compared with 737,816 in 1979—a 25 per cent. increase. Out-patient numbers rose to 6,005,131 in 1992 from 5,206,078 in 1979.
